Clean Sweep for Ranger

Ranger stole an exciting final race win from under the nose of Velsheda to ensure that the team which have been second at all three previous regattas this season, Mahon, Palma and Porto Cervo, win Les Voiles de Saint Tropez unbeaten.

The Ranger crew under skipper-helm Erle Williams were delighted. Their deck brush subtly fastened to the backstay told the story, a ‘clean sweep’ of all four Saint Tropez races. Ranger made it two wins in a row on a grey and rainy day at Les Voiles de Saint Tropez when they led at every mark of the 20. 8 miles second race of the regatta and crossed the finish line off Saint Tropez with just over 40 seconds in hand over second placed Velsheda.
. The foundation for their second victory was laid during the 3. 7 mile beat between the start line and the first windward mark. The course offered a mix of two sail reaches, two windward legs – the second of which was quite one sided More...
