The J Class is happy to announce the appointment of Alfredo Ricci as the new Secretary of J Class Association as of February 1.

Alfredo (1970), an economics major and graduate grew up in Salerno, a little town at the entrance of the Amalfi Coast.

As a young boy his sailing career started with the Optimist and many other classes followed after that.

As umpire/judge he took part in the last three editions of the Olympic Games and at 2007 and 2017 editions of the America's Cup.

He got involved in the J Class since 2014 as on the water umpire.

Ronald de Waal of Velsheda and one of the founders of the Class says:

"We are very happy for Alfredo to join us as the Class Secretary. We got to know Alfredo not only as a very knowledgeable sailor but also as a true J Class enthusiast " .

Harold Goddijn of Lionheart, winner of 2017 J Class World Series welcomes Alfredo and his experience and is looking forward to work with him.

Alfredo said:

"It's an incredible challenge and I'm proud to take it. Since I was a kid I have always loved the J Class, I look forward to the start of another fantastic season and working with the Owners and the crews".

The J Class is planning a big event as part of 2021 America's Cup in New Zealand.
