After an active 2024, the J Class looks to consolidation and cruising ahead of 2026’s races in Cowes and Sweden

The cutting edge of America's Cup racing in the 1930s, the J Class may have been replaced after just a few campaigns, but may never be replaced as the fan favorite Cup Class. 

All three boats proved to be very close in terms of performance this week, all winning at least one race, but after two consecutive wins today, Svea claim the title.

Two major J Class Trophies will be presented at the J Class Barcelona Regatta prize giving which will take place at the main stage in the 37th America’s Cup Race Village on the Moll de la Fusta at 1830hrs.

The newest team to J Class racing were nonetheless pleased to have put their first race win on the leaderboard.

After four excellent, hard fought races in brisk winds atthe J Class Barcelona Regatta, it may be Velsheda which is credited with theoverall lead, but that is only on tie break which falls the way of the beautiful91-year-old as winners of today’s second race ahead of Svea.

After a spectacular first day of racing at the J Class Barcelona regatta, which saw the beautiful, majestic big yachts of the America’s Cup past in close and exciting action, honours are shared equally between the three-boat fleet’s newest and oldest yachts Svea and Velsheda.

Although the fleet went afloat on time and waited, ready to race at any time during the afternoon, there proved to be insufficient wind to allow the J Class Barcelona Regatta competition to get under way.
