The J Class fleet of three boats Rainbow, Svea and Rainbow have gone afloat around midday anticipating the first day of racing at the J Class Barcelona Regatta.

By winning the second, final coastal race of the Maxi YachtRolex Cup by only a handful of seconds, the highly polished crew of the SwedishJ Class yacht Svea won the Super Maxi division overall.

After two days of no sailing due to the big breeze, racing finally got underway today in Porto Cervo.

A breezy week seems to be in prospect for competitors at this year’s Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup which starts on Monday out of Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

In one month’s time J Class yachts will enjoy a welcome return to the America’s Cup spotlight when four stunning examples – Shamrock V, Velsheda, Rainbow and Svea – muster in Barcelona during the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup to race at the J Class Barcelona Regatta.

With a carefully crafted victory in today’s final 25 nautical mile coastal race, the Swedish flagged Svea won the J Class at The Superyacht Cup Palma.
